10 Romantic and Fun Date Night Ideas in Seattle | Valentine’s Day Edition

Ahh Valentine’s Day… you either love it or you hate it. For me, I LOVE Valentine’s Day and all that it stands for… I love celebrating love, and going on an extra special date night with that special someone. With V-Day being a week away, I realized it was definitely time to start thinking of ideas of places to go, things to do, etc., so I thought I’d share with you guys my list of 10 Romantic and Fun Date Night Ideas in Seattle:

1. DINNER AND A SHOW

I don’t know about you all, but I LOVE going to dinner and a show. There is so much great theater here in Seattle, that we don’t take advantage of, and we really should! I grew up going to see Pacific Northwest Ballet, the Opera, Seattle Symphony and many more! Some of my favorites for specifically date nights include The Triple Door playing A Burlesque Valentine on 2/14, Keys on Main dueling piano show, and Teatro ZinZanni cabaret dinner theater.

2. SPACE NEEDLE

Nothing beats a classic Seattle date night to impress than a trip up the Space Needle. With 360 degree views of the city and the new $100-million renovation, it’ll certainly be a night to remember! The best part is that once you buy your ticket up to the top, there is no time limit for how long you can stay, so grab a bite to eat from the cafe or a drink, and enjoy the sites.

3. PIKE PLACE MARKET

When people think of Seattle, they think of (besides the weather) Pike Place Market! That being said, as touristy as it is, I still and always will love Pike Place. There’s something so special about being in the heart of Seattle’s history at the market, amongst the hustle and bustle, smelling the Puget Sound salty air. Keep in mind the market closes at 6pm Mon-Sat so on V-Day I recommend spending the morning strolling around with a cup of coffee, and maybe buy some local flowers from the market. If you go during the evening, be sure to visit some of the awesome restaurants such as Cutters Crab House with amazing seafood and water views right next to the market, Il Bistro for an intimate Italian dinner for two tucked away in the depths of the market, or Japonessa for some of Seattle’s best sushi with a great happy hour.

4. THE GREAT WHEEL

Just a quick 10 minute walk down to the hill from Pike Place, you’ll find yourself at the Seattle waterfront. If you’re spending time by the market or downtown on V-Day, I definitely recommend stopping by The Great Wheel. With a special Valentine’s Day promotion, you can buy two tickets in a private cabin up the wheel, with 2 glasses of champagne and a session a the photo booth all for $60!

5. BY THE WATER

Sticking with the theme of Seattle waterfront, if you want a date night with views of the water, and some of Seattle’s finest seafood, these are my top picks – Ray’s Boathouse in Ballard (seriously my favorite restaurant in all of Seattle, I’m not kidding). Palisade, a Seattle classic with a phenomenal menu and views of downtown and the water. One of the coolest places on the water with trees and epic chandeliers inside the dining room, Six Seven at the Edgewater Hotel (which is where I took Jason for his birthday this past year). Anthony’s Pier 66, again with great seafood and downtown waterfront views. And finally a fun 2 1/2 hour adventure with Seattle Dinner Cruises, where you’ll get a fully coursed meal, champagne, and a water tour of Seattle on a boat.

6. SWEET TREATS

If you have a sweet tooth like me, then these next ones you’ll want to pay attention to!These are fun dinner-altnerative date ideas that you can do during the day or afternoon on V-Day! Take a tour of Theo’s Chocolate Factory in Fremont and taste literally AS MUCH chocolate as you can handle! How much better can it get, am I right?! Another fun tour is at the Seattle Chocolate Factory flagship, where you’ll learn about the history of chocolate and taste various flavors while you see the factory. Or have breakfast together a a donut shop, or treat your loved one to a suppose box of donuts at work, from some of my faves like Top Pot and General Porpoise.

7. TAKE IN THE VIEW

Seattle is a beautiful city, there’s no denying that… well, maybe on a gray rainy day.. but never mind that. On a clear night or a sunny day Seattle is simply put, one of the most gorgeous cities there is. There is something so special about a bustling city tucked in between two gigantic mountain ranges, miles of forrest, and water – we have it all! One your way to or from your Valentine’s Day date, I’d recommend stopping by some of these places to take in the view and make your time together EXTRA special – Kerry Park, you can easily stop by here on your way to or from a restaurant for a quick 5-10 minute view of the city. This place is simply breathtaking, I will never forget the first time I was taken here on a date – I was like “WOW I didn’t know Seattle could be this stunning!!” The Sky View Observatory at the Columbia Center, open until 8pm on V-Day and with $22/ticket, this is one of the highest buildings in downtown Seattle and the sky view deck is definitely a fun thing to experience! Another great sky view is the Smith Tower Observatory in one of Seattle’s historic and oldest neighborhood, Pioneer Square. The Smith Tower is a little shorter than the Columbia Tower, but still a fun time and you can grab a cocktail and some small plates to share from the bar while you’re up there as well.

8. CAP HILL

Capitol Hill is definitely a unique neighborhood in Seattle. It is home to some of the trendiest restaurants and cafés, with a bit of a younger crowd and a vibrant night life. If you’re looking for a fun and unique date-night in Cap Hill, I recommend places such as Bar Mesuline – very cute and trendy with small places and great drinks. 8oz Burger, with mouth-watering and very unique burgers. Poppy, with their award winning seasonal menu make with fresh veggies and herbs from their garde. SOI has AMAZING northern Thai food. Elysian Brewing for your classic American food, awesome burgers and beer. Finally, The Garage for a fun night of bowling/pub games and bar food.

9. LOCAL AND SIMPLE

If you’re looking for something more simple and quaint, check out some of Seattle’s smaller neighborhoods. They often have great small restaurants that are prefect for a simple night out – whether it’s Valentine’s Day, an anniversary, birthday, or just another day of the week. A fun date night would be visiting a tasting room or brewery – one of my favorites is Schilling Cider House in Fremont, because you can get a whole flight of 10 ciders and try many different options! It’s always fun exploring the menu and trying new things. If you’re in Fremont/Wallingford, then definitely go to Agro Dolce for incredible South Italian cuisine and craft cocktails, or the Whale Wins for an awesome seasonal menu with fresh ingredients and a fun atmosphere. If you’re into Mexican food, I love Rositas in Greenlake – they have the BEST green salsa I’ve EVER had, and some of the best “authentic” Mexican food I’ve had in Seattle.

10. FANCY IT UP

If you’re like me, then you love dressing up and going out on the town for a fancy dinner. There are so many incredible places to eat here in Seattle, there’s a reason it’s known as a “restaurant city”. If you’re looking to impress on Valentine’s Day and go that extra mile, I’d recommend the following $$$$ restaurants… Canlis, one of Seattle’s most iconic 5-star restaurants overlooking Lake Union. Bateau, a fine-dining contemporary/French steakhouse in Capitol Hill. Serafina, another one of my FAVORITE Italian places here in town, with an incredible menu and wine program. The Metropolitan Grill, another iconic and classic steakhouse in downtown Seattle, and finally The Dhalia Lounge, winner of the 2018 Diners’ Choice Awards, and Tom Douglas’ first (and fanciest) restaurant.

Whether you keep your Valentine’s Day simple or go all-out, I hope I helped you with some ideas of where to go and what to do. These of course can be date-night ideas for any time of the year, but I with V-Day right around the corner, I thought I’d brainstorm a little and write this post for you all.
